Al-Inshiqaaq
The Splitting Open
Meccan - 25 verses
1
إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتْ ۝١
When the sky is split open
2
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ ۝٢
and gives ear to its Lord as it should.
3
وَإِذَا ٱلْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ ۝٣
When the earth is spread out
4
وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ ۝٤
and throws out what is in it, emptying itself,
5
وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ ۝٥
and gives ear to its Lord as it should.
6
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَـٰقِيهِ ۝٦
O man! You are labouring toward your Lord laboriously, and you will encounter Him.
7
فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ ۝٧
Then, as for him who is given his record [of deeds] in his right hand,
8
فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا ۝٨
he will receive an easy reckoning,
9
وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا ۝٩
and he will return to his folks joyfully.
10
وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِىَ كِتَـٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ ۝١٠
But as for him who is given his record from behind his back,
11
فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُوا۟ ثُبُورًا ۝١١
he will pray for annihilation
12
وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا ۝١٢
and enter the Blaze.
13
إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِىٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُورًا ۝١٣
Indeed he used to be joyful among his folk,
14
إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ ۝١٤
and he thought that he would never return.
15
بَلَىٰٓ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرًا ۝١٥
Yes, his Lord had been watching him.
16
فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ ۝١٦
I swear by the evening glow,
17
وَٱلَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ ۝١٧
by the night and what it is fraught with,
18
وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ ۝١٨
by the moon when it blooms full:
19
لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ ۝١٩
you will surely fare from stage to stage.
20
فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ ۝٢٠
What is the matter with them that they will not believe,
21
وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩ ۝٢١
and will not prostrate when the Quran is recited to them?
22
بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ يُكَذِّبُونَ ۝٢٢
Indeed, the faithless impugn [the Apostle],
23
وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ ۝٢٣
and Allah knows best what they keep to themselves.
24
فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ۝٢٤
So inform them of a painful punishment,
25
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍۭ ۝٢٥
excepting such as are faithful and do righteous deeds: for them there will be an everlasting reward.
