1- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) عَنْ أُمَّهَاتِ الأوْلادِ أَلَهَا أَنْ تَكْشِفَ رَأْسَهَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِي الرِّجَالِ قَالَ تَقَنَّعُ.
1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Muhammad ibn ‘Isma’il ibn Bazi’ who has said the following: “I once asked abu al-Hassan, al-Rida’, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the mother of children (slave-girls kept to give birth): if they can remove the covering from their heads before men. He (the Imam) said, ’She must use the veil.’”

2- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ لَيْسَ عَلَى الأمَةِ قِنَاعٌ فِي الصَّلاةِ وَلا عَلَى الْمُدَبَّرَةِ وَلا عَلَى الْمُكَاتَبَةِ إِذَا اشْتُرِطَتْ عَلَيْهَا قِنَاعٌ فِي الصَّلاةِ وَهِيَ مَمْلُوكَةٌ حَتَّى تُؤَدِّيَ جَمِيعَ مُكَاتَبَتِهَا وَيَجْرِي عَلَيْهَا مَا يَجْرِي عَلَى الْمَمْلُوكِ فِي الْحُدُودِ كُلِّهَا.
2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Mahbub from Hisham ibn Salim from Muhammad ibn Muslim who has said the following: “I once heard abu Ja’far, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ‘A slave-girl is not required to wear a veil for Salat (prayer) as well as one who has planned for her freedom; and the one who has already contracted even if wearing veil for Salat (prayer) is made a condition when she is owned until she pays off all that is contracted and all things applicable to slaves in penal law apply to her also.’”
