The Detestability of Sleeping and Passing Time without Work

1- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ كَثْرَةُ النَّوْمِ مَذْهَبَةٌ لِلدِّينِ وَالدُّنْيَا.
1. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn Mahbub from Yunus ibn Ya’qub from the one whom he has mentioned who has said the following: “Abu ‘ Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ’Excessive sleeping causes one to lose his religion as well as the worldly matters.”’

2- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ بَشِيرٍ الدَّهَّانِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْحَسَنِ مُوسَى (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللهَ جَلَّ وَعَزَّ يُبْغِضُ الْعَبْدَ النَّوَّامَ الْفَارِغَ.
2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ibn Faddal from the one whom he has mentioned (in his book) from Bashir al-Dahhan who has said the following: “I heard abu al-Hassan, Musa, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, saying, ’Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, dislikes an excessively sleeping servant who passes his time without work.’”

3- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُسْكَانَ وَصَالِحٍ النِّيلِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُبْغِضُ كَثْرَةَ النَّوْمِ وَكَثْرَةَ الْفَرَاغِ.
3. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from his father from ibn Sinan from ‘Abd Allah ibn Muskan from Salih al-Niliy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘Allah, most Majestic, most Glorious, hates one’s excessive sleeping and passing time without work.’”
