Lodging With a Borrower When Demanding Payment

1- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ سُوَيْدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ جَرَّاحٍ الْمَدَائِنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) أَنَّهُ كَرِهَ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ وَلَهُ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ وَإِنْ كَانَ قَدْ صَرَّهَا لَهُ إِلا ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ.
1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id from al-Nadr ibn Suwayd from al-Qasim ibn Sulayman from Jarrah al-Mada’iniy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said, ‘It is Makruh (undesirable) for a creditor to lodge with his debtor, even if he has already picked the amount he owes and has made it ready to pay, except for three days.’”

2- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَنْزِلُ عَلَى الرَّجُلِ وَلَهُ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ أَيَأْكُلُ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ يَأْكُلُ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ثُمَّ لا يَأْكُلُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ شَيْئاً.
2. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from ‘Uthman ibn ‘Isa from Sama‘ah who has said the following: “This is concerning my question before abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, about the case of a man who lodges with his debtor; if he can use his food. He (the Imam) said, ‘Yes, he can do so for three days but not for more than three days.”’
