1- عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُذَافِرٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الأعْلَى مَوْلَى آلِ سَامٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ يا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ ناراً جَلَسَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَبْكِي وَقَالَ أَنَا عَجَزْتُ عَنْ نَفْسِي كُلِّفْتُ أَهْلِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِه) حَسْبُكَ أَنْ تَأْمُرَهُمْ بِمَا تَأْمُرُ بِهِ نَفْسَكَ وَتَنْهَاهُمْ عَمَّا تَنْهَى عَنْهُ نَفْسَكَ.
1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ‘Isma’il from Muhammad ibn ‘Adhafir from Ishaq ibn ‘Ammar from ‘Abd al-‘A’la’, Mawla ale Sam who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah, ‘Alayhi al-Salam, has said that when the following verse of the Holy Quran was revealed: ‘O believers save yourselves and your family from a fire. . . (66:6) one man from the Muslims sat straight and began to weep, saying, ‘I have failed in saving myself and now I am commanded to save my family also.’ The Messenger of Allah, O Allah, grant compensation to Muhammad and his family worthy of their services to Your cause, said, ‘It is enough for you to ask them to do good as you ask yourself and prohibit them from committing sins as you prohibit yourself.’”

2- عَنْهُ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ ناراً قُلْتُ كَيْفَ أَقِيهِمْ قَالَ تَأْمُرُهُمْ بِمَا أَمَرَ اللهُ وَتَنْهَاهُمْ عَمَّا نَهَاهُمُ اللهُ فَإِنْ أَطَاعُوكَ كُنْتَ قَدْ وَقَيْتَهُمْ وَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ كُنْتَ قَدْ قَضَيْتَ مَا عَلَيْكَ.
2. It is narrated from the narrator of the previous Hadith from ‘Uthaman ibn ‘Isa from Sama‘ah from abu Basir from who has said the following: “About the words of Allah, the most Majestic, the most Glorious, ‘. . . Save yourselves and your family from a fire. . . .’ (66:6) I asked him (the Imam), ‘How can I save them?’ He (the Imam) replied, ‘You must order them to do what Allah has commanded to do and prohibit them from what Allah has prohibited them to do. If they obeyed you, you have saved them. If they disobeyed you, you have fulfilled your responsibility.’”

3- عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلام) فِي قَوْلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قُوا أَنْفُسَكُمْ وَأَهْلِيكُمْ ناراً كَيْفَ نَقِي أَهْلَنَا قَالَ تَأْمُرُونَهُمْ وَتَنْهَوْنَهُمْ.
3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ibn abu ‘Umayr from Hafs ibn ‘Uthaman from Sama‘ah from abu Basir who has said the following: “About the words of Allah, ‘. . . save yourselves and your family. . . .’ (66:6) I asked abu ‘Abd Allah, Alayhi al-Salam, ‘How can we save our families?’ He (the Imam) said, ‘Command them and prohibit them.’”
