Supplications for Healing Ailments and Diseases
1
1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ وَابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ كَانَ يَقُولُ عِنْدَ الْعِلَّةِ اللهمَّ إِنَّكَ عَيَّرْتَ أَقْوَاماً فَقُلْتَ قُلِ ادْعُوا الَّذِينَ زَعَمْتُمْ مِنْ دُونِهِ فَلا يَمْلِكُونَ كَشْفَ الضُّرِّ عَنْكُمْ وَلا تَحْوِيلاً فَيَا مَنْ لا يَمْلِكُ كَشْفَ ضُرِّي وَلا تَحْوِيلَهُ عَنِّي أَحَدٌ غَيْرُهُ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَاكْشِفْ ضُرِّي وَحَوِّلْهُ إِلَى مَنْ يَدْعُو مَعَكَ إِلَهاً آخَرَ لا إِلَهَ غَيْرُكَ.
1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn abu Najran and ibn Faddal from certain individuals of our people from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “For an ailment the Imam (a.s.) would say, ‘O Lord, You have criticized certain nations saying, “(Muhammad), tell them, ‘Seek help from those whom you consider equal to Allah. They are not able to remove or change your hardships’” (17:56) O the One besides whom no one is able to provide me relief or divert the hardships away from me, confer al-Salat (favors) upon Muhammad and his family, grant me relief and divert the suffering from me to those who worship things other than You.’”

2ـ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ الْمُهْتَدِي عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ زُرْبِيٍّ قَالَ مَرِضْتُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مَرَضاً شَدِيداً فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) فَكَتَبَ إِلَيَّ قَدْ بَلَغَنِي عِلَّتُكَ فَاشْتَرِ صَاعاً مِنْ بُرٍّ ثُمَّ اسْتَلْقِ عَلَى قَفَاكَ وَانْثُرْهُ عَلَى صَدْرِكَ كَيْفَمَا انْتَثَرَ وَقُلِ اللهمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِاسْمِكَ الَّذِي إِذَا سَأَلَكَ بِهِ الْمُضْطَرُّ كَشَفْتَ مَا بِهِ مِنْ ضُرٍّ وَمَكَّنْتَ لَهُ فِي الأرْضِ وَجَعَلْتَهُ خَلِيفَتَكَ عَلَى خَلْقِكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَنْ تُعَافِيَنِي مِنْ عِلَّتِي ثُمَّ اسْتَوِ جَالِساً وَاجْمَعِ الْبُرَّ مِنْ حَوْلِكَ وَقُلْ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ وَاقْسِمْهُ مُدّاً مُدّاً لِكُلِّ مِسْكِينٍ وَقُلْ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ قَالَ دَاوُدُ فَفَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ فَكَأَنَّمَا نُشِطْتُ مِنْ عِقَالٍ وَقَدْ فَعَلَهُ غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ فَانْتَفَعَ بِهِ.
2. Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn al-Muhtadi from Yunus ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman from Dawud ibn Razin who has said the following: “I fell severely ill in Madiana and Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) had found out about it. He wrote to me, ‘Your ailment has come to our notice and you should buy one Sa’a (about 3 kg) of wheat, lie down on your back, pour it on your chest, as is done and say, “O Lord, I plead before You through Your name with which when a helpless person pleads before You, You remove his hardship, establish him on earth, and appoint him as Your deputy among Your creatures, bestow al-Salat (favors) upon Muhammad and his family, grant me good health and recovery from my ailment.” Then sit straight, collect the wheat around you and say what you just said and distribute it among the destitute a handful for each one and say what you just said (above supplication).’ “Dawud has said, ‘I followed his instruction and it was like I was freed from a rope with which I was tied up. Many people tried it and benefited thereby.’”

3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ نُعَيْمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ اشْتَكَى بَعْضُ وُلْدِهِ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ قُلِ اللهمَّ اشْفِنِي بِشِفَائِكَ وَدَاوِنِي بِدَوَائِكَ وَعَافِنِي مِنْ بَلائِكَ فَإِنِّي عَبْدُكَ وَابْنُ عَبْدِكَ.
3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from al- Husayn ibn Nu’aym from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Once one of the sons of Imam (a.s.) complained from an ailment and he told him to say, ‘O Lord, cure me with Your treatment, provide me medication from Your medicine and relieve me from Your misfortune; I am Your servant, son of Your servant.’”

4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لأبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ هَذَا الَّذِي قَدْ ظَهَرَ بِوَجْهِي يَزْعُمُ النَّاسُ أَنَّ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَمْ يَبْتَلِ بِهِ عَبْداً لَهُ فِيهِ حَاجَةٌ فَقَالَ لِي لا لَقَدْ كَانَ مُؤْمِنُ آلِ فِرْعَوْنَ مُكَنَّعَ الأصَابِعِ فَكَانَ يَقُولُ هَكَذَا وَيَمُدُّ يَدَهُ وَيَقُولُ يا قَوْمِ اتَّبِعُوا الْمُرْسَلِينَ قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِذَا كَانَ الثُّلُثُ الأخِيرُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فِي أَوَّلِهِ فَتَوَضَّأْ وَقُمْ إِلَى صَلاتِكَ الَّتِي تُصَلِّيهَا فَإِذَا كُنْتَ فِي السَّجْدَةِ الأخِيرَةِ مِنَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الأولَيَيْنِ فَقُلْ وَأَنْتَ سَاجِدٌ يَا عَلِيُّ يَا عَظِيمُ يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رَحِيمُ يَا سَامِعَ الدَّعَوَاتِ وَيَا مُعْطِيَ الْخَيْرَاتِ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَعْطِنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ مَا أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ وَاصْرِفْ عَنِّي مِنْ شَرِّ الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ مَا أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ وَأَذْهِبْ عَنِّي هَذَا الْوَجَعَ وَسَمِّهِ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ غَاظَنِي وَأَحْزَنَنِي وَأَلِحَّ فِي الدُّعَاءِ قَالَ فَمَا وَصَلْتُ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ حَتَّى أَذْهَبَ الله بِهِ عَنِّي كُلَّهُ.

Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ali ibn al-Hakam from Malik ibn ‘Atiyyah from Yunus ibn ‘Ammar who has said the following: “Once I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) may Allah keep my soul in service for your cause, about this thing that has appeared on my face, people say that Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, does not allow it to cause suffering to one about whom He cares.’ The Imam said, ‘No, that is not so. The fingers of the believing person among the people of Pharaoh were such that bones were visible and he would speak to people extending his hand forward: ‘O people, follow the messengers.’ (36:20) The Imam then said, ‘When it is the beginning of the last third of the night, make Wuzu and stand up for prayer that you (usually) perform. In the last Sajdah (prostration) of the first two Rak’at say, ‘O the Most High, O the Most Great, O the Beneficent, O the Merciful, O the Hearer of the pleas for help, O the Conferrer of the good, grant al-Salat (favors) upon Muhammad and his family, facilitate for me of the good of this and the next world that much which You would deem proper, divert away from me the evil of this and the next world that much that You deem proper and relieve me from this pain; - mention it by its name - it has caused me anguish and sadness,’ and be persistent in your pleading and prayer.’ “The narrator has said that before his reaching al-Kufa Allah had totally relieved him from that disease.’” (See also Hadith 30 Ch. 103)

5ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَعِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ جَمِيعاً عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَ الرَّجُلَ مَرَّ بِهِ الْبَلاءُ فَقُلِ الْحَمْدُ لله الَّذِي عَافَانِي مِمَّا ابْتَلاكَ بِهِ وَفَضَّلَنِي عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَى كَثِيرٍ مِمَّنْ خَلَقَ وَلا تُسْمِعْهُ.
5. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father and A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad Drust ibn abu Mansur Muhammad ibn Isma’Il all from Hanan ibn Sadir from his father from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whenever you see a man afflicted with a misfortune, say, ‘All praise belongs to Allah, Who has kept me safe from that with which you suffer, that He has given me preference over you and over many creatures,’ but be sure not to make him hear what you said.’”

6ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ زُرْبِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ تَضَعُ يَدَكَ عَلَى الْمَوْضِعِ الَّذِي فِيهِ الْوَجَعُ وَتَقُولُ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ الله الله رَبِّي حَقّاً لا أُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئاً اللهمَّ أَنْتَ لَهَا وَلِكُلِّ عَظِيمَةٍ فَفَرِّجْهَا عَنِّي.
6. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from certain individuals of his people from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Dawud ibn Razin from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Place your hand over the painful part and say three times: Allah, Allah, my Lord in all truth, I do not believe in anything as His partner, O Lord, You are (the help) for this and all the great troubles, provide me relief from this pain.’”

7ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ دَاوُدَ عَنْ مُفَضَّلٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) لِلأوْجَاعِ تَقُولُ بِسْمِ الله وَبِالله كَمْ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ لله فِي عِرْقٍ سَاكِنٍ وَغَيْرِ سَاكِنٍ عَلَى عَبْدٍ شَاكِرٍ وَغَيْرِ شَاكِرٍ وَتَأْخُذْ لِحْيَتَكَ بِيَدِكَ الْيُمْنَى بَعْدَ صَلاةٍ مَفْرُوضَةٍ وَتَقُولُ اللهمَّ فَرِّجْ عَنِّي كُرْبَتِي وَعَجِّلْ عَافِيَتِي وَاكْشِفْ ضُرِّي ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَاحْرِصْ أَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ مَعَ دُمُوعٍ وَبُكَاءٍ.
7. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Dawud from Mufaddal from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “For pains say, ‘In the name of Allah, and with (the help of) Allah, how much is of the bounties of Allah in a painful or painless vein of a thankful or unthankful servant (of Allah).’ After an obligatory prayer hold your beard in your hand and say, ‘O Lord, relieve me from my pain with an immediate good health and remove hardships from me, say it three times and try it to happen with tears coming from your eyes and a feeling of weeping.’”

8ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) فَشَكَوْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَجَعاً بِي فَقَالَ قُلْ بِسْمِ الله ثُمَّ امْسَحْ يَدَكَ عَلَيْهِ وَقُلْ أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ الله وَأَعُوذُ بِقُدْرَةِ الله وَأَعُوذُ بِجَلالِ الله وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَةِ الله وَأَعُوذُ بِجَمْعِ الله وَأَعُوذُ بِرَسُولِ الله وَأَعُوذُ بِأَسْمَاءِ الله مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَحْذَرُ وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَى نَفْسِي تَقُولُهَا سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ قَالَ فَفَعَلْتُ فَأَذْهَبَ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهَا الْوَجَعَ عَنِّي.
8. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd al-Hamid from a man who has said the following: “Once I went in the presence of Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) and complained to him from a pain that I suffered. The Imam instructed me to say, ‘In the name of Allah, wipe your hand on the painful area and say, “I seek protection through the power of Allah, I seek protection through the glory of Allah, I seek protection through the greatness of Allah, I seek protection through the community of Allah, I seek protection through the Messenger of Allah, I seek protection through the names of Allah, against the evil of that which I avoid and from the evil of that from which I fear for myself,”’ - seven times. I (the narrator) followed the instruction and Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, removed the pain from me.’”

9ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ عَوْنٍ قَالَ أَمِرَّ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْوَجَعِ ثُمَّ قُلْ بِسْمِ الله وَبِالله وَمُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِالله الْعَلِيِّ الْعَظِيمِ اللهمَّ امْسَحْ عَنِّي مَا أَجِدُ ثُمَّ تُمِرُّ يَدَكَ الْيُمْنَى وَتَمْسَحُ مَوْضِعَ الْوَجَعِ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ.
9. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Washsha’ from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan from ‘Awn who has said the following: “(The Imam) said, ‘Wipe with your hand the painful area, then say, ‘In the name of Allah, with (the help of) Allah, and through Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, there are no means and no power without Allah, the Most High, the Most Great, O Lord, remove and wipe away from me that which I feel,’ then wipe the painful area with your right hand three times.’”

10ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَخِي غَرَامٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ تَضَعُ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْوَجَعِ ثُمَّ تَقُولُ بِسْمِ الله وَبِالله وَمُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلا بِالله اللهمَّ امْسَحْ عَنِّي مَا أَجِدُ وَتَمْسَحُ الْوَجَعَ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ.
10. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn abu Nasr from Muhammad son of brother of Gharam from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Place your hand over the painful area then say, ‘In the name of Allah, with (the help of) Allah, and through Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, there are no means and no power without Allah, O Lord, wipe away from me that which I feel,’ and wipe the area three times.”

11ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَمِّهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ عَلِّمْنِي دُعَاءً أَدْعُو بِهِ لِوَجَعٍ أَصَابَنِي قَالَ قُلْ وَأَنْتَ سَاجِدٌ يَا الله يَا رَحْمَانُ يَا رَحِيمُ يَا رَبَّ الأرْبَابِ وَإِلَهَ الآلِهَةِ وَيَا مَلِكَ الْمُلُوكِ وَيَا سَيِّدَ السَّادَةِ اشْفِنِي بِشِفَائِكَ مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ وَسُقْمٍ فَإِنِّي عَبْدُكَ أَتَقَلَّبُ فِي قَبْضَتِكَ.
11. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Amr ibn ‘Uthman from Ali ibn ‘Isa from his uncle who has said the following: “I asked him (the Imam) to teach me a supplication when I suffer from pain. He said during Sajdah (prostration) say, ‘O Allah, O the Beneficent, O the Merciful, O Lord of lords, O Lord of gods (things worshipped), O the King of kings, O Master of masters, cure me with Your treatment from all ailments and diseases; I am Your servant who moves back and forth in Your control.’”

12ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجْرَانَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا (عَلَيهِما السَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا دَخَلْتَ عَلَى مَرِيضٍ فَقُلْ أُعِيذُكَ بِالله الْعَظِيمِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ مِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ عِرْقٍ نَفَّارٍ وَمِنْ شَرِّ حَرِّ النَّارِ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ.
12. Muhammad ibn Yahya from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ibn abu Najran from Hammad ibn ‘Isa from Hariz from Zurara from one of the two Imams (a.s.) who has said the following: “When you visit a patient say, ‘I seek protection for you from Allah, the Great Lord of the great Throne against the evil of every swelling vein and the evil of the heat of fire,’ seven times.’”

13ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنِ الثُّمَالِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ إِذَا اشْتَكَى الإنْسَانُ فَلْيَقُلْ بِسْمِ الله وَبِالله وَمُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) أَعُوذُ بِعِزَّةِ الله وَأَعُوذُ بِقُدْرَةِ الله عَلَى مَا يَشَاءُ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ.
13. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn abu Nasr from Aban ibn ‘Uthman from al-Thumali from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Whenever one has complains of pain, he should say, ‘In the name of Allah, with (the help of) Allah, and through Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, I seek protection with the majesty of Allah and I seek protection with the power of Allah over everything that He wills, against what I feel.’”

14ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ هِشَامٍ الْجَوَالِيقِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) يَا مُنْزِلَ الشِّفَاءِ وَمُذْهِبَ الدَّاءِ أَنْزِلْ عَلَى مَا بِي مِنْ دَاءٍ شِفَاءً.
14. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Hassan ibn Ali from Hisham al-Jawaliqi from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “O the One who sends cures, and removes pain, send upon me a cure for that from which I suffer.”

15ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ صَاحِبِ الشَّعِيرِ عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ وَكَانَ خَبَّازاً قَالَ شَكَوْتُ إِلَى أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) وَجَعاً بِي فَقَالَ إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ فَضَعْ يَدَكَ مَوْضِعَ سُجُودِكَ ثُمَّ قُلْ بِسْمِ الله مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) اشْفِنِي يَا شَافِي لا شِفَاءَ إِلا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لا يُغَادِرُ سُقْماً شِفَاءً مِنْ كُلِّ دَاءٍ وَسُقْمٍ.
15. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Musa ibn al-Hassan from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from abu Ishaq Sahih al-Sha’Ir from Husayn al-Khurasani who was a baker and has said that he once complained before Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) from pain and the Imam said the following: “After prayer place your hand on the area for your prostration and say, ‘In the name of Allah, Muhammad the Messenger of Allah, cure me O Healer; there is no cure except Your cure that leaves no ailment without being removed, the cure for all pain and ailments.’”

16ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَرِضَ عَلِيٌّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) فَأَتَاهُ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) فَقَالَ لَهُ قُلِ اللهمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ تَعْجِيلَ عَافِيَتِكَ وَصَبْراً عَلَى بَلِيَّتِكَ وَخُرُوجاً إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ.
16. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from certain individuals of his people from abu Hamza from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Once, Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) became ill. The Messenger of Allah visited him and said, ‘Say, O Lord, I plead before You for a quick recovery, (the ability to have) patience with misfortune from You and coming out of it into Your favors and mercy.”

17ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ مَسْعَدَةَ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) كَانَ يُنَشِّرُ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ تَضَعُ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْوَجَعِ وَتَقُولُ أَيُّهَا الْوَجَعُ اسْكُنْ بِسَكِينَةِ الله وَقِرْ بِوَقَارِ الله وَانْحَجِزْ بِحَاجِزِ الله وَاهْدَأْ بِهَدْءِ الله أُعِيذُكَ أَيُّهَا الإنْسَانُ بِمَا أَعَاذَ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهِ عَرْشَهُ وَمَلائِكَتَهُ يَوْمَ الرَّجْفَةِ وَالزَّلازِلِ تَقُولُ ذَلِكَ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ وَلا أَقَلَّ مِنَ الثَّلاثِ.
17. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Harun ibn Muslim from Mas’adah ibn Sadaqa from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Holy Prophet would seek cure with this supplication. He would place his hand over the painful area and say, ‘O pain, calm down by the serenity of Allah, silence by the dignity of Allah, be barred by the barrier of Allah, quiet down by the calm of Allah, I protect you O human being by that with which Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy, has protected His Throne, His angels on the day of the shaking and quake.’ You should say it seven times or no less than three times.”

18ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ مَوْلَى الْجَعْفَرِيِّ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ تَضَعُ يَدَكَ عَلَى مَوْضِعِ الْوَجَعِ وَتَقُولُ اللهمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ الْقُرْآنِ الْعَظِيمِ الَّذِي نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الأمِينُ وَهُوَ عِنْدَكَ فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ عَلِيٌّ حَكِيمٌ أَنْ تَشْفِيَنِي بِشِفَائِكَ وَتُدَاوِيَنِي بِدَوَائِكَ وَتُعَافِيَنِي مِنْ بَلائِكَ ثَلاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَتُصَلِّي عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ.
18. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from ‘Amr ibn al-Mubarak from ‘Awn ibn Sa’D Mawla al-Ja’fari from Mu’awiyah ibn ‘Ammar from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Place your hand over the painful area and say, ‘O Lord, I plead before You through the Holy Quran that the trusted Spirit brought (to Your Messenger) and it is before You in the original Book, high and full of wisdom, provide me cures with Your treatment, medication with Your medicine and good health from ailment You have caused, - say it three times,’ then say, ‘O Lord, grant cil-Salat (favors) upon Muhammad and his family.’”

19ـ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْعَوْفِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ قَالَ عَرَضَ بِي وَجَعٌ فِي رُكْبَتِي فَشَكَوْتُ ذَلِكَ إِلَى أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) فَقَالَ إِذَا أَنْتَ صَلَّيْتَ فَقُلْ يَا أَجْوَدَ مَنْ أَعْطَى وَيَا خَيْرَ مَنْ سُئِلَ وَيَا أَرْحَمَ مَنِ اسْتُرْحِمَ ارْحَمْ ضَعْفِي وَقِلَّةَ حِيلَتِي وَعَافِنِي مِنْ وَجَعِي قَالَ فَفَعَلْتُهُ فَعُوفِيتُ.
19. Ahmad ibn Muhammad has narrated from al-‘Awfi from Ali ibn al-Husayn from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Zurara from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl from abu Hamza who has said the following: “Once my knee became painful and I complain before abu Ja’far (a.s.) and he instructed me to say after prayer, ‘O the Most Generous of the givers, O the Best of those pleaded for help, O the Most Merciful of the merciful ones, be kind to my weakness, lack of strength and grant me recovery from my pain.’ I (the narrator) followed the instruction and recovered thereafter.”
