Lightning Does Not Affect One Who Speaks of Allah

1ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَبِي الصَّبَّاحِ الْكِنَانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ يَمُوتُ الْمُؤْمِنُ بِكُلِّ مِيتَةٍ إِلا الصَّاعِقَةَ لا تَأْخُذُهُ وَهُوَ يَذْكُرُ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
1. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Muhammad ibn Isma’Il from Muhammad ibn al-Fudayl from abu al-Sabbah al- Kinani from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “A believing person may die by any form of death except lightning that will not hit him when he is speaking of Allah, the Majestic, the Glorious,.”

2ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْعِجْلِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) إِنَّ الصَّوَاعِقَ لا تُصِيبُ ذَاكِراً قَالَ قُلْتُ وَمَا الذَّاكِرُ قَالَ مَنْ قَرَأَ مِائَةَ آيَةٍ.

Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr from ibn ‘Udhaynah from Burayd ibn Mu’awiyah al-‘Ijliy who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘lightning does not affect the speaker (of Allah).’ I (the narrator) then asked, ‘Who is a speaker?’ The Imam said, ‘One who reads one hundred verses of the Holy Quran.’”

3ـ حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَمَاعَةَ عَنْ وُهَيْبِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) عَنْ مِيتَةِ الْمُؤْمِنِ قَالَ يَمُوتُ الْمُؤْمِنُ بِكُلِّ مِيتَةٍ يَمُوتُ غَرَقاً وَيَمُوتُ بِالْهَدْمِ وَيُبْتَلَى بِالسَّبُعِ وَيَمُوتُ بِالصَّاعِقَةِ وَلا تُصِيبُ ذَاكِرَ الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ.
3. Humayd ibn Ziyad has narrated from al-Hassan ibn Muhammad ibn Sama’a from Wahab ibn Hafs from abu Basir who has said the following: “I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) about the death of the believing persons. The Imam said, ‘A believing person may die in any form of death, drowning, by the debris of falling buildings, or beasts may cause his death. He may die because of lightning except when speaking of Allah, the Most Majestic, the Most Holy.’”
