7 hadiths
1
1ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رِئَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ الْحَيَاءُ مِنَ الإيمَانِ وَالإيمَانُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ.
1. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from ibn Mahbub from Ali ibn Ri’ab from abu ‘Ubayda al-Hadhdha’ from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Bashfulness is from belief and belief is in paradise.’”

2ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّيْقَلِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) الْحَيَاءُ وَالْعَفَافُ وَالْعِيُّ أَعْنِي عِيَّ اللِّسَانِ لا عِيَّ الْقَلْبِ مِنَ الإيمَانِ.
2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Muhammad ibn Sinan from ibn Muskan from al-Hassan al-Sayqal from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘Bashfulness, chastity, tiredness of tongue (to shun speaking useless things), not tiredness of the heart, are from belief.’”

3ـ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ النَّهْدِيِّ عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْعَوَّامِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَنْ رَقَّ وَجْهُهُ رَقَّ عِلْمُهُ.
3. Al-Husayn ibn Muhammad has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad al-Nahdi from Mus’ab ibn Yazid from al -‘Awwam ibn al-Zubayr from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘One whose face is thin (bashful and shy) has thin knowledge.’”

4ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ يَحْيَى أَخِي دَارِمٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا (عَلَيهِما السَّلام) قَالَ الْحَيَاءُ وَالإيمَانُ مَقْرُونَانِ فِي قَرَنٍ فَإِذَا ذَهَبَ أَحَدُهُمَا تَبِعَهُ صَاحِبُهُ.
4. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from ‘Abd Allah ibn al-Mughirah from Yahya brother of Daram from Mu’adh ibn Kathir from one of the two Imam (abu Ja’far or abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.)) who has said the following: “Bashfulness and belief are tied with the same rope. If one of them goes away, the other also follows its companion.”

5ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَقْطِينٍ عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ لا إِيمَانَ لِمَنْ لا حَيَاءَ لَهُ.
5. A number of our people have narrated from Sahl ibn Ziyad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from al-Hassan ibn Ali ibn Yaqtin from al-Fadl ibn Kathir from those whom he has mentioned (in his book) from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘One has no belief if he does not have bashfulness.’”

6ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا رَفَعَهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) الْحَيَاءُ حَيَاءَانِ حَيَاءُ عَقْلٍ وَحَيَاءُ حُمْقٍ فَحَيَاءُ الْعَقْلِ هُوَ الْعِلْمُ وَحَيَاءُ الْحُمْقِ هُوَ الْجَهْلُ.
6. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn abu ‘Abd Allah from certain individuals of our people in a marfu’ manner from the Messenger of Allah who has said the following: “There are two kinds of bashfulness: A bashfulness that comes from one’s reason and the bashfulness that comes from one’s foolishness. The bashfulness that comes from one’s reason is knowledge and the bashfulness that comes from one’s foolishness is ignorance.”

7ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ اللهبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) أَرْبَعٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ وَكَانَ مِنْ قَرْنِهِ إِلَى قَدَمِهِ ذُنُوباً بَدَّلَهَا الله حَسَنَاتٍ الصِّدْقُ وَالْحَيَاءُ وَحُسْنُ الْخُلُقِ وَالشُّكْرُ.
7. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from Bukayr ibn Salih from al-Hassan ibn Ali from ‘Abd Allah ibn Ibrahim from Ali ibn abu Ali al-Lahabi from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “The Messenger of Allah has said, ‘If four things are found in a person, even though he may be full of sins from his top to his toes, Allah will change his sins into good deeds. The four things are: truthfulness, bashfulness, excellence in moral behavior and gratefulness.’”
