Gossip Mongering

1ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الله بْنِ سِنَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ الله (صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وآلِه) أَ لا أُنَبِّئُكُمْ بِشِرَارِكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ الله قَالَ الْمَشَّاءُونَ بِالنَّمِيمَةِ الْمُفَرِّقُونَ بَيْنَ الأحِبَّةِ الْبَاغُونَ لِلْبُرَآءِ الْمَعَايِبَ.
1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad from al- Hassan ibn Mahbub from ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: ‘‘The Messenger of Allah has asked, ‘Should I tell you who the evil ones among you are?’ They said, ‘Yes, O Messenger of Allah.’ The Messenger of Allah said, ‘They are those who spread gossip that causes separation among the loved ones and those who seek to label the innocent with faults.’”

2ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مُحَرَّمَةٌ الْجَنَّةُ عَلَى الْقَتَّاتِينَ الْمَشَّاءِينَ بِالنَّمِيمَةِ.
2. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yusuf ibn ‘Aqil from Muhammad ibn Qays from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘Entering paradise is prohibited to spies and gossip mongers.’”

3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الأصْبَهَانِيِّ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قَالَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) شِرَارُكُمُ الْمَشَّاءُونَ بِالنَّمِيمَةِ الْمُفَرِّقُونَ بَيْنَ الأحِبَّةِ الْمُبْتَغُونَ لِلْبُرَآءِ الْمَعَايِبَ.
3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from Muhammad ibn ‘Isa from Yunus from abu al- Hassan al-Asbahani from those whom has mentioned (in his book) from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Amir al-Mu’minin, Ali ibn abu Talib (a.s.) has said, ‘The evil ones among you are those who spread gossip that causes separation among the loved ones, and seek to label the innocent with defects.’”
