4 hadiths
1
1ـ عِدَّةٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ مَا أَقْبَحَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِ أَنْ تَكُونَ لَهُ رَغْبَةٌ تُذِلُّهُ.
1. A number of our people have narrated from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khalid from Ali ibn Hassan from those who narrated to him from Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu ‘Abd Allah (a.s.) has said, ‘How disgraceful to a believer is a desire that humiliates him!”’

2ـ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَمَّنْ ذَكَرَهُ بَلَغَ بِهِ أَبَا جَعْفَرٍ (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ بِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ لَهُ طَمَعٌ يَقُودُهُ وَبِئْسَ الْعَبْدُ عَبْدٌ لَهُ رَغْبَةٌ تُذِلُّهُ.
2. It is narrated from him (narrator of the Hadith above) from his father from those whom he has mentioned in his book from abu Ja’far (a.s.) who has said the following: “Abu Ja’far (a.s.) has said, ‘The worst servant is the servant who has a greed that dominates him and so also is a servant whose desires humiliate him.’”

3ـ عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْمِنْقَرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ (عَلَيهِما السَّلام) رَأَيْتُ الْخَيْرَ كُلَّهُ قَدِ اجْتَمَعَ فِي قَطْعِ الطَّمَعِ عَمَّا فِي أَيْدِي النَّاسِ.
3. Ali ibn Ibrahim has narrated from his father from al-Qasim ibn Muhammad from al-Minqari from ‘Abd al-Razzaq from Mu’ammar from al-Zuhri who has said the following: “Ali ibn al-Husayn (a.s.) has said, ‘I have seen all good is gathered together in eradicating of greed for what is in people’s possession.’”

4ـ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ رُشَيْدٍ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ سَلامٍ عَنْ سَعْدَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الله (عَلَيهِ السَّلام) قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ مَا الَّذِي يُثْبِتُ الإيمَانَ فِي الْعَبْدِ قَالَ الْوَرَعُ وَالَّذِي يُخْرِجُهُ مِنْهُ قَالَ الطَّمَعُ.
4. Muhammad ibn Yahya has narrated from Muhammad ibn Ahmad from certain individuals of our people from Ali ibn Sulayman ibn Rashid from Musa ibn Salam from Sa’dan who has said the following: “Once I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (a.s.) ‘What (deed) establishes belief firmly in a servant (of Allah)?’ The Imam said, ‘It is restraint from the worldly attractions (sins).’ I then asked, ‘What (kind of thing) removes belief from a person?’ The Imam said, ‘It is greed.’”
