1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Muhammad b. Ali al-Kufi from al-Muffadhal b. Salih from Muhammad b. Ali al-Halabi from Zurarah and Hamran from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “If a servant performs a good deed for the sake of pleasure of Allah and for hereafter and if he includes the pleasure of people in it, he is a polytheist.”

2. Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said, “One who performs a good deed for the sake of people, his outcome is along with those people only. Surely every showoff is polytheism. The Almighty Allah says: One who performs a good deed for Me as well as for others he has done it for others and not for Me.”
