أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ یَعْقُوبَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی عُمَیْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: شَاهِدُ الزُّورِ لَا تَزَالُ قَدَمَاهُ حَتَّی تَجِبَ لَهُ النَّارُ.
1. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ya’qub b. Yazid from Muhammad b. Abi ’Umayr from Hisham b. Salim from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “One who testifies falsely, Hell will be made obligatory for him even before action is taken on his testimony.”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحَکَمِ عَنْ أَبَانٍ الْأَحْمَرِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ مِیثَمٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ شَهِدَ شَهَادَهَ زُورٍ عَلَی مَالِ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ لِیَقْطَعَهُ إِلَّا کَتَبَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ لَهُ مَکَانَهُ ضَنْکاً إِلَی النَّارِ.
2. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Ahmad b. Muhammad from Ali b. al-Hakam from Aban al-Ahmar from a man from Salih b. Maytham from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “If a Muslim testifies falsely against the property of another Muslim and deprives him of it, Allah will write the punishment of Hell for his hereafter.”

وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِی نَجْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِی جَمِیلَهَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ص مَنْ کَتَمَ شَهَادَهً أَوْ شَهِدَ بِهَا لِیَهْدِرَ بِهَا دَمَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَوْ لِیَزْوِیَ بِهَا مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ أَتَی یَوْمَ الْقِیَامَهِ وَ لِوَجْهِهِ ظُلْمَهٌ مَدَّ الْبَصَرِ وَ فِی وَجْهِهِ کُدُوحٌ یَعْرِفُهُ الْخَلَائِقُ بِاسْمِهِ وَ نَسَبِهِ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع أَ لَا تَرَی اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ یَقُولُ- وَ أَقِیمُوا الشَّهادَهَ لِلَّهِ

Imam Muhammad Baqir (a.s.) narrates that the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.s.) said, “One who testifies falsely and as a result of which a Muslim’s blood is shed or his wealth is usurped, the testifier will be brought on the Day of Judgment with his face having blackness spread everywhere and having scratches on it. People will know him with his name and lineage. One who testifies truthfully and saves the right of another Muslim, his face will be brightened on the Day of Judgment with its light spreading everywhere on the Day of Judgment. He will also be known to the people with name and lineage. Did you not hear the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime: and give upright testimony for Allah?”

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْیَرِیُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ أَبِی الْخَطَّابِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ أَیُّوبَ عَنْ سَمَاعَهَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: شُهُودُ الزُّورِ یُجْلَدُونَ جَلْداً لَیْسَ لَهُ وَقْتٌ وَ ذَلِکَ إِلَی الْإِمَامِ یُطَافُ عَلَیْهِمْ حَتَّی یُعْرَفُوا فَلَا یَعُودُوا قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ وَ إِنْ تَابُوا وَ أَصْلَحُوا تُقْبَلُ شَهَادَتُهُمْ بَعْدَهُ قَالَ إِذَا تَابُوا تَابَ اللَّهُ عَلَیْهِمْ وَ قُبِلَتْ شَهَادَتُهُمْ.
4. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Abdillah b. Ja’far al-Himyari from Muhammad b. al-Hussain b. Abi al-Khattab from al-Hassan b. Mahbub from Ayoob’ from Sama’a b. Mihran from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “The punishment of false testimony is lashing and its number will be as per the will of Imam. In addition to this the person should be made to go round the city so that people recognize him and that the person does not commit this sin once again.” Imam (a.s.) was asked whether his testimony can be accepted if he repents and decides not to commit the sin once again. Imam (a.s.) replied, “If he repents and Allah accepts his repentance, the person’s testimony is acceptable.”

أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: فِی شَاهِدِ الزُّورِ مَا تَوْبَتُهُ قَالَ یُؤَدِّی الْمَالَ الَّذِی شَهِدَ عَلَیْهِ بِقَدْرِ مَا ذَهَبَ مِنْ مَالِهِ إِنْ کَانَ النِّصْفَ أَوِ الثُّلُثَ إِنْ کَانَ یَشْهَدُ هُوَ وَ آخَرُ مَعَهُ أَدَّی النِّصْفَ.
5. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from his father from Safwan from al-’Ala from Muhammad b. Muslim from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) was asked how a false testifier should repent. He replied, “The person should recompense the loss of wealth because of his false testimony. If the victim has lost one third of his wealth, it should be repaid. If he has lost half of his wealth, the same should be repaid and if the loss is due to testimony of two persons, they both should repay it together.”
