Reward of repenting for sins

حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُوسَی بْنُ عِمْرَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَیْنُ بْنُ یَزِیدَ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ أَبِی حَمْزَهَ عَنْ أَبِی بَصِیرٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ یَقُولُ أَوْحَی اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَی دَاوُدَ النَّبِیِّ ع یَا دَاوُدُ إِنَّ عَبْدِیَ الْمُؤْمِنَ إِذَا أَذْنَبَ ذَنْباً ثُمَّ رَجَعَ وَ تَابَ مِنْ ذَلِکَ الذَّنْبِ وَ اسْتَحْیَا مِنِّی عِنْدَ ذِکْرِهِ غَفَرْتُ لَهُ وَ أَنْسَیْتُهُ الْحَفَظَهَ وَ أَبْدَلْتُهُ الْحَسَنَهَ وَ لَا أُبَالِی وَ أَنَا أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِینَ.
1. It is narrated that Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said, “Allah revealed onto Prophet Dawood, ‘O Dawood! If a believer commits sins and repents for it and feels ashamed in front of Me while repenting I forgive him. I will make the angel forget this sin and convert this sin into a good deed. I do not care (it is not difficult for me) for I am the Most Merciful’.”
