1. My father and all of my scholars narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā Al-‘Aťťār, from Ḥamdān ibn Sulaymān Al-Naysābūri, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Muḥammad Al-Yamāni, from Manī’ ibn Ḥajjāj, from Yūnus, from Safwān Al-Jammāl, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Those who perform Ghusl with the water of the Euphrates (River) and then go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) become sinless like the day their mothers gave birth to them, even if they had committed major sins. It is recommended that one performs Ghusl before going to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) and not when bidding farewell (to him), but rather wipe one’s hands over the face when bidding farewell.

Verily when a believer goes to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) while knowing his rights and performs Ghusl with the water of the Euphrates (River), with every step that he takes, an accepted and purified Hajj and ‘Umrah and (the reward of) fighting (in the way of Allāh) along with one of Allāh’s messengers or with a Just Imam will be registered for him.

3. My father narrated to me from Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā, and from Aḥmad ibn Idrīs, from ‘Amraki ibn ‘Ali, from Yaḥyā – who was the servant of Imam Abī Ja’far the Second (Imam Jawād (a.s.)), from Muḥammad ibn Sinān, from Bashīr Al-Dahhān, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) in Ḥīrah (speaking) to a group of Shia surrounding him. He turned his face toward me and asked, “O Bashīr! Did you go for Hajj last year?” I replied, “May I sacrifice myself for you! No, but instead I spent the Day of ‘Arafah next to the Grave – referring to the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.).” Imam (a.s.) said, “O Bashīr! I swear to Allāh that you did not miss anything (from the blessings) that were in Makkah for those who were there.” I said, “May I sacrifice myself for you! Explain this to me, for (the blessing of being in) ‘Arafāt is (only available) in Makkah.” Imam (a.s.) replied: O Bashīr! Verily every time one of you raises his foot or places it down walking toward the grave of Ḥusain (a.s.) while knowing his rights, after performing Ghusl on the shores of the Euphrates (River), Allāh will give you (the reward of) one hundred accepted Hajj and one hundred purified ‘Umrah and (the reward of) fighting in a hundred battles with one of Allāh’s messengers against His enemies and the enemies of the Messenger.

And once they say Salām to Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Ḥusain (a.s.)) they will be registered as the Winners. And purify my heart, my organs, my flesh, my blood, my hair, my skin, my brain, my bones, my nerves, and my mass with it. And make it my witness on the Day of Judgment: the day of my need, poverty, and destitution.
