Cursing of the Pigeons on the Killers of Ĥusain (a.s.)

1 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ [عَلِيِّ بْنِ هَارُونَ] عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ النَّوْفَلِيِّ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ السَّكُونِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ اتَّخِذُوا الْحَمَامَ الرَّاعِبِيَّةَ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ فَإِنَّهَا تَلْعَنُ قَتَلَةَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع
1. My father and ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain both narrated to me from ‘Ali ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Hāshim, from his father, from Ḥusain ibn Yazīd Al-Nawfali, from Ismā’īl ibn Abī Ziyād Al-Sakūni, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Choose pigeons as birds in your houses, for verily they curse the killers of Ḥusain (a.s.).

2 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَ أَخِي وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ جَمِيعاً عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِدْرِيسَ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَامُورَانِيِّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ صَنْدَلٍ [صَفْوَانَ] عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ جَالِساً فِي بَيْتِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَى الْحَمَامِ الرَّاعِبِيِّ يُقَرْقِرُ طَوِيلًا فَنَظَرَ إِلَيَّ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) فَقَالَ يَا دَاوُدُ أَ تَدْرِي مَا يَقُولُ هَذَا الطَّيْرُ قُلْتُ لَا وَ اللَّهِ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ تَدْعُو عَلَى قَتَلَةِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّع فَاتَّخِذُوهُ فِي مَنَازِلِكُمْ وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ جَمَاعَةُ مَشَايِخِي عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْجَامُورَانِيِّ بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ

My father, my brother, ‘Ali ibn Ḥusain, and Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan all narrated to me from Aḥmad ibn Idrīs ibn Aḥmad, from Abī ‘Abdillāh Al-Jāmūrāni, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Abī Ḥamzah, from Sandal/Safwān, from Dāwūd ibn Farqad, who said: I was sitting in the house of Abī ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) and I saw a pigeon who was cooing for a long time. Then Abū ‘Abdillāh (a.s.) looked at me and asked, “O Dāwūd! Do you know what this bird is saying?” I replied, “May I sacrifice myself for you! No, I do not.” Imam (a.s.) said, “It is cursing the killers of Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.). Therefore, choose pigeons as birds in your houses.” The above Ḥadīth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: My father, and all of my scholars, from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Abī ‘Abdillāh Al-Jāmūrāni, from Ḥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Abī Ḥamzah, from Sandal/Safwān, from Dāwūd ibn Farqad, from Abī ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).
