1. My father and Muḥammad ibn Ḥasan (ibn Aḥmad) ibn Walīd both narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā ibn ‘Ubayd, from Safwān ibn Yaḥyā, and from Ja’far ibn ‘Isā ibn ‘Ubaydillāh, from Abī ‘Abdillāh Ḥusain ibn Abī Ghundar, from someone who narrated to him, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: One day Ḥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) was sitting on the Prophet’s lap. The Prophet (s.a.a.w.) was playing with him and making him laugh when ‘Āyishah said, “O Messenger of Allāh! How intense is your admiration of this boy!” The Prophet (s.a.a.w.) replied, “Woe onto you! How can I not love him and admire him when he is the fruit of my heart and the light of my eyes?! Verily my nation will kill him. Allāh will register the reward of one of my Hajj for those who go to his Ziyārah after his death.” “O Messenger of Allāh! One of your Hajj?” ‘Āyishah asked. “Yes, even two of my Hajj,” the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) replied. “O Messenger of Allāh! Two of your Hajj?” ‘Āyishah asked. “Yes, even four (of my Hajj),” the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) replied. ‘Āyishah kept on asking and the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) kept on increasing the rewards until the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) counted (the reward of the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.) equal) to ninety of his Hajj as well as ninety of his ‘Umrah.

2. Muḥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ḥimyari narrated to me from his father, from ‘Ali ibn Muḥammad ibn Sālim, from Muḥammad ibn Khālid, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Ḥammād Al-Basri, from ‘Abdillāh ibn ‘Abdil Raḥmān Al-Asam, from Misma’ ibn ‘Abdil Malik, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: Fāťimah (s.a.) was carrying Ḥusain (a.s.) one day when the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) took him from her. He said (to Ḥusain (a.s.)), “Allāh’s curse be upon those who (will) kill you. Allāh’s curse be upon those who (will) loot you. May Allāh destroy those who (will) help one another against you. May Allāh judge between me and those who (will) support others against you.” Fāťimah (s.a.) asked, “O father! What are you saying?!” The Prophet (s.a.a.w.) replied: O My daughter! I remembered the tragedies that will befall him after me and you, and how he will be hurt, oppressed, betrayed, and violated. When this happens, he will be accompanied by a group (of people) who are like the stars of the sky, and (they) will be led toward death. The Prophet (s.a.a.w.) continued, “It is as if I can see their camp, the place where they will dismount from their sumpters, and their dust.” Fāťimah (s.a.) asked, “O father! Where is this place you are describing?” The Prophet (s.a.a.w.) replied: It is a land called Karbalā. It is the land of (KARB) agony and (BALĀ) affliction for us and for the nation. The most wicked ones from my nation will rise against them (Ḥusain (a.s.) and his companions). Even if all of the inhabitants of the heavens and the earths intercede for one of those who rise against Ḥusain (a.s.), their intercession will not be accepted, and they will abide in Hell eternally. Fāťimah (s.a.) asked, “O father! So he (Ḥusain (a.s.)) will be killed?” The Prophet (s.a.) replied: Yes, O my daughter. No one has ever been killed (or will be killed) other than Ḥusain (a.s.) on whom the heavens, the earths, the mountains, the angels, the beasts, and the whales in the oceans (will) cry. And if these created beings had been given permission (to destroy everything to avenge Ḥusain (a.s.)), no living object would have survived (after the killing of Ḥusain (a.s.)). (Verily) a group of people who love us will go to him (his Ziyārah). (Verily) no one on earth knows Allāh better than they do and no one is more committed to our rights than they are. (Verily) no one on earth other than them will pay attention to Ḥusain (a.s.). (Verily) they are the lights in the darkness of oppression. They are the intercessors and they are those who will join me by my Pool tomorrow (on the Day of Judgment). I will recognize them by their marks when I see them (on the Day of Judgment). (On that day) the followers of every religion will look for their leaders and they (those who go to the Ziyārah of Ḥusain (a.s.)) will look for no one other than us. They are the pillars of the earth, and the rains shower down through them.

Verily they are the guides with whom Allāh is pleased. He has given them my knowledge and my understanding. They are my descendants who are from my flesh and blood. I complain to Allāh about their enemies from my nation, about those who deny their virtues, and about those who abandon me by (oppressing) them. I swear to Allāh that they will kill my son. May Allāh exclude them from my intercession.

Ḥasan ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā narrated to me from his father, from Ḥasan ibn Maḥbūb, from ‘Ali ibn Shajarah, from Salām Al-Ju’fi, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Muḥammad Al-San’āni, who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: The Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) would draw Ḥusain (a.s.) to himself whenever Ḥusain (a.s.) would enter (a place where the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) happened to be). Then he would tell the Commander of the Believers (a.s.) to hold Ḥusain (a.s.), after which he would fall on Ḥusain (a.s.), kissing him and crying. So (once) Ḥusain (a.s.) asked, “O father! Why are you crying?” “I am kissing parts of your body which will be struck with swords,” the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) replied. “O father! Will I be killed?” Ḥusain (a.s.) asked. “Yes. I swear to Allāh that you, your father, and your brother will be killed,” the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) replied. “Will the places of our martyrdom be far from each other?” Ḥusain (a.s.) asked. “Yes. O my son,” the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) replied. “So who from your nation will come to our Ziyārah?” Ḥusain (a.s.) asked. “No one but the truthful ones from my nation will come to my Ziyārah, to the Ziyārah of your father, to the Ziyārah of your brother, or to your Ziyārah,” the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) replied.

My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muḥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Muḥammad ibn Sinān, from Abī Sa’īd Al-Qammāť, from Ibn Abī Ya’fūr, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Sādiq (a.s.)) said: One day when the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) was in the house of Fāťimah (s.a.), Ḥusain (a.s.) was sitting on his lap. Suddenly the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) started to cry and fell in Sujūd. (After raising his head) he said: O Fāťimah, daughter of Muḥammad! (Allāh) the Most High, the Most Exalted just appeared to me in your house in the most beautiful form and appearance and asked me, “O Muḥammad! Do you love Ḥusain (a.s.)?” I replied, “He is the light of my eyes, the fruit of my heart, my flower (in this life), and the skin between my two eyes.” Allāh said: O Muḥammad! – and He placed His hand on the head of Ḥusain (a.s.) – Blessed is this newborn baby upon whom I have sent My prosperity, blessings, mercy, and pleasure. And My blame, curse, wrath, chastisement, disgrace, and punishment are upon those who antagonize him, fight him, incite (the people) against him, and kill him. Verily he is the Master of Martyrs from the first to the last in this life and in the Hereafter. Verily he is the Master of the Youth of Paradise from among all of the creation and his father is more graceful and higher (in rank) than he is. (O Muḥammad!) Convey My Salām to him and give him glad tidings that he is the flag of My guidance, the lighthouse for My friends, My trustee and witness over My creation, the keeper of My knowledge, and My Decisive Proof on the inhabitants of the heavens and the earths, and on all of mankind and Jinn.
